Roadrunner Records: A Year In Metal Part 2…Gojira

They were already one of the finest metal bands to emerge in recent years, and in 2012 French behemoths Gojira consolidated themselves as one of the genre’s true visionaries and became deservedly recognised as legitimate heavyweights.

Earning a 9/10 review from Hammer’s own Dom Lawson, L’Enfant Sauvage has generally been welcomed as the band’s finest album yet and one of the year’s very strongest releases. Follow that with a stunning set of UK shows including this bad boy in London, and you can see why we’ve all fallen for them once again. Hard.

“Objectivity be damned; some bands are special and, in the metal world of 2012, Gojira are the most special of all,” wrote our Dom. We’re not arguing. Miss them in March with Ghost and The Defiled at your peril.
