Yup, we thought we read that wrong at first too. Apparently Paul McCartney could be joining the surviving members of Nirvana onstage later tonight for a charity concert to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York.
According to The Sun, Paul rang up Dave Grohl (as you do) and asked him to come round for a jam, which resulted in Paul, Dave, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear all playing together. It does sound rather odd doesn’t it? Come Together (As You Are) doesn’t quite seem to have the same ring to it…
The Sun reported McCartney saying:
“I didn’t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?’ And somebody whispered to me ‘’That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”
The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Green Day, Kanye West and The Who are all set to play the 121212 concert tonight.
